About Us
Then He said to His disciples, The harvest is indeed plentiful, but the laborers are few.
So pray to the Lord of the harvest to [a]force out and thrust laborers into His harvest.
-Matthew 9:37-38.
Our Story
Pursuing Grace Ministry was born through John Bako, out of his quest to seek the Lord in understanding His original purpose for creating him.
At that time, he was working with the Nigerian Bank for Commerce and Industry (NBCI), but series of dreams and visions all come together to indicate that it was time for him to move on to know the Lord for himself.
The resignation came officially on October 22, 2002. I was not sure what it really meant to seek to do the will of God, but there was an inner conviction especially based on this recurring scripture of Romans 12:1-2. Then I used to listen to Dr. Tony Evans broadcasts, and that inspired me a lot to pursue the will of God.
I recalled asking the Lord what his plans were for me, but he said to me that He wants to lead me one step at a time. He said, I should obey first then he would reveal the next step.
So, I stepped out by faith. It was some few days after my resignation that I was sitting down in my room and thinking over my life and how far I have come. How he rescued me from Kaduna and brought me to Lagos through staff transfer. It then occurred to me that all those and many more were as a result of his grace.
There and then these words just popped out of my mouth: “Lord, if this is what your grace is, then I will pursue it for the rest of my life”. About 5 years later on my way toa training class, I heard the Holy Spirit said: “My son, what you said that day, I took it as vow, so you must keep at it”.
Prior to that through lots of reading, a desire has been formed in me to be a youth minister and have a youth retreat center.
Following my resignation and that statement, I was doing my devotion in the morning using Every Day with Jesus. The Scripture under consideration was Matthew 18. As I read verses 1-3, I heard in my spirit:” This Sunday, when you get to church, go and submit yourself to the children department”.
He helped me obey, because I have never seen myself as a children person, in fact, I was too tough looking for them. But I went and in less than a year I was made the superintendent, having about 80 volunteer teachers and over 1200 children and teenagers.
In August 2017, Pursuing Grace ministry was officially registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission to promote activities that will help reach the young people.

Our Mission
We seek the "seeker" (William Easterly) approach in our missions programmes. The seeker approach recognized that the answers to the problems on the field are not fully known. We use flexible approaches and work with local communities to solve problems, using the integration of biblical and market-based solutions.

Our Vision
To seek the young people that are lost.
To seek the young from the margins and develop them.

”At this time the disciples came to Jesus saying, ‘ Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?’ And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them and said, ‘Truly i say unto you, unless you turn and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.”
Mathew 18:1-3
